1. Who we are

Kuartz lens is a Chrome extension for visual QA, published by KUARTZ, a web design studio based in Lyon, France. Contact: [email protected]

2. What the extension does

Kuartz lens lets you capture an element or an area of a web page, add a comment and attachments, and track the status of the resulting feedback with your team and clients. To make this possible, feedback is stored on our backend and shared in real time between the members of the same project.

3. Data we collect

We collect data only when you use the extension:

• Account and sign-in: team members sign in with an email and password. Clients sign in with an access code provided by the team and a display name.
• Feedback content: your comments, replies and internal notes, your name and role (client or team), and the status of each feedback.
• Page context at the time of capture: the page URL, the CSS selector and XPath of the selected element, its tag name and the first 300 characters of its text, its position, the scroll position, the viewport and screen size, the pixel ratio, the browser name and version, the operating system and the user agent.
• Screenshots: the area you select, captured only when you click “Screenshot”. It contains whatever is visible on the page, so please avoid capturing sensitive information.
• Attachments: files you choose to add to a feedback (images, videos, PDFs, documents, up to 20 MB each).

The extension does not track your browsing and does not collect your browsing history. It reads a page only when you trigger a capture or open a feedback, and nothing runs in the background on the pages you visit.

4. How we use data

We use this data only to provide the feedback and tracking features described above. We do not sell data, we do not use it for advertising, analytics or profiling, and we do not use or transfer it for purposes unrelated to the extension’s single purpose.

5. Storage and service providers

Data is stored with Supabase, our infrastructure provider (database, file storage, authentication and real-time sync), on servers hosted in Paris, France (European Union), and transmitted over HTTPS. Access is limited to the members of the project concerned. Supabase acts as our data processor.

6. Data stored in your browser

The extension stores your session, the selected project and your interface preferences in Chrome’s local extension storage (chrome.storage.local). This data is removed when you sign out or uninstall the extension.

7. Sharing

Feedback is visible to the other members of the same project (team and clients). We do not share data with any other third party, except where required by law.

8. Retention and deletion

Data is kept for as long as the project is open. When a project is closed or deleted, its data is permanently deleted within 3 months. Team members can delete feedback or an entire project from the extension at any time. You can also ask us to delete your data at any time by writing to [email protected]

9. Why each permission is requested

• activeTab, scripting: to run the capture tool on the page you are reviewing, only when you trigger it.
• Host permissions (all sites): feedback can concern any website, and the tool must run on the site being reviewed, including when we reopen a feedback on its original page.
• tabs: to read the URL of the current tab and to navigate to the page a feedback refers to.
• storage: to keep your session and preferences.
• sidePanel: to display the extension as a docked side panel.

10. Remote code

Kuartz lens does not load or execute remote code. All code is included in the extension package.

11. Your rights

If you are in the European Economic Area, you have the right to access, correct, delete, export or object to the processing of your data. Contact us at [email protected]. You may also lodge a complaint with your data protection authority (in France, the CNIL).

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above.
